January- Winter Sports & Snow Parks
Fresno County’s nearby mountains turn into a winter playground this time of year. Spend the day sledding, tubing, or snowboarding at spots like China Peak and local snow parks near Shaver Lake. Just 90 minutes from the city, it’s the perfect cold-weather escape without a long drive.
February- Fresno County Blossom Trail
Drive along a path of pink and white blossoms and see why there is nothing like a California winter. Nearly 70 miles long, check out special events in celebration of the blooming fruits such as the annual Kings River Blossom Trail Bike Ride, and the opening trail ceremony held by the Sanger Chamber of Commerce. The blooms can fluctuate every year, and are weather permitting, be sure to check out our pages frequently around mid-February to mid-March to make sure you can catch them during their peak!
March- FresYes Fest
Spring kicks off with FresYes Fest, a downtown Fresno block party celebrating local food, craft beer, live music, and local vendors bringing their craft in an open-air market. Tioga Sequoia Brewing Co. is a part of the block party, serving up seasonal beers on tap. While you're here, explore more events, beer gardens, and outdoor spots to enjoy the area.
April - Big Hat Days & The Clovis Rodeo
April is all about Old Town Clovis, with the start and end of the month hosting some of the largest events of the year in Clovis. Big Hat Days kicks things off with one of Central California’s largest street festivals. Then, saddle up for the Clovis Rodeo, a tradition that’s been going strong for over 100 years and brings over 50,000 people to the area every year! Dust off your boots and hats for these events, as it begins to warm up in Fresno County while the season is in full swing!
May- The Fresno Chaffee Zoo
Baby animal season comes upon us in the spring! In 2024, the zoo celebrated the birth of its first-ever African elephant calves, Thando and Davu, who are now exploring their habitat and bonding with the herd. Additionally, lion cubs Asali and Taraj made their public debut in March 2025, giving us the chance to watch the baby lions as they grow and play in the zoo's African Adventure exhibit! Be sure to check their website and social media pages to see any announcements of new babies being born in the future.
June- The Fresno County Fruit Trail
Sample fresh peaches, cherries, and more directly from local farms on the Fresno County Fruit Trail between mid-May through July. Enjoy farms that allow self-picking options, farm stands with a variety of seasonal fruit, or enjoy one of our many weekly farmers' markets to get a taste of local flavors! July - Beat the Heat at Fresno County Water Parks
Fresno County sees over 300 days of sunshine a year, bringing the heat during summer. Cool off by visiting our top water parks. The Island Waterpark in Fresno to enjoy the lazy river and wave pool. Don't miss their 4th of July celebrations at the park with fireworks shows in the evening. Wild Water Adventure Park in Clovis is the go-to spot to cool off during summer break, with over 15 water slides, shaded picnic areas, and cabanas, making this adventure park great for families of any size.
August - Visit A Historical Landmark
August is a great time to explore Fresno County’s history while staying cool—visit local landmarks like the Meux Home or Forestiere Underground Gardens in Fresno to dig into our past without breaking a sweat. Forestiere Underground Gardens typically stay 10-15 degrees cooler all year round because of the depth of the garden underground. The Meux Home Museum is a tour of a historical Victorian-era home and shares the early history of Fresno and the Meux family. Clovis Big Dry Creek Museum is an indoor museum sharing photos and artifacts of early pioneers in the Clovis area. These are just a few highlights from Fresno County’s collection of more than 300 designated historic sites, making this the largest concentration of historic resources in Central California.
September - Fresno Greek Fest
Celebrate Fresno’s vibrant Greek community at the annual Fresno Greek Fest every September. From authentic Mediterranean dishes and live traditional dancing to music and cultural exhibits, it’s a great way to experience the flavor and energy of Fresno during your visit. October - Visit One (or all three) Nearby National Parks
October is one of the best times to explore Fresno County’s nearby national parks—Yosemite, Sequoia, and Kings Canyon. Cooler temperatures and lighter crowds make it our favorite season for hiking, sightseeing, and enjoying the changing landscapes without the summer rush.
November - Two Cities Marathon
Run or cheer from the sidelines, the annual Two Cities Marathon will show you how Fresno County gets active! With crisp fall weather and a scenic course between Fresno and Clovis, this Boston Marathon qualifier is a great way to welcome the autumn season while supporting the community on the track or at the finish line. December - See Holiday Lights in Fresno and Clovis
