Forestiere Underground Gardens

Forestiere Underground Gardens is now closed for the winter season. The 2026 tour season is scheduled to begin on March 27th. 

Sicilian immigrant Baldassare Forestiere spent decades carving this subterranean wonder by hand, earning it recognition as a California Registered Historical Landmark (#916) and a spot on the National Register of Historic Sites. Featured in outlets like The New York Times, HGTV’s Xtreme Gardens, and CNN’s “World’s Coolest Underground Attractions,” these open-air rooms and citrus-filled courtyards invite you to step into a piece of living history, still inspiring visitors over a century later.

Guided tours are also available in Spanish and offer an alternate route for standard wheelchairs at Forestiere Underground Gardens. Call ahead to coordinate tours for accommodations at 559-271-0734.
