We’re feeling the love this month in Fresno County. They don’t call us the heart of California for nothing! From trendy arcades to the outdoors, there’s something for every couple to enjoy.
Galactic Challenge
Location: Fashion Fair Mall, 645 E Shaw Ave, Fresno, CA 93710
About: If you’re up to the challenge try out this space-themed airsoft arcade located inside Fresno’s Fashion Fair Mall. Shoot multiple targets for a chance to win several prizes. The more targets you shoot the more points you get. This arcade sets the mood for a perfect amount of fun with your partner. Nearby you’ll find Slaters 50/50, where they serve delicious burgers and beer. Stop by Popping Avenue Boba Tea for creative milk teas with different toppings.
X-Lanes FEC
Location: 609 E Shaw Ave, Fresno, CA 93710
About: Enjoy a fun-packed day at X-Lanes located inside the Fashion Fair Mall. It’s lined up with a sports bar, arcade games, bowling, and karaoke. If you work up an appetite you can order wings and pizza off of their menu.
Fresno Chaffee Zoo
Location: 894 W Belmont Ave, Fresno, CA 93728
About: The Fresno Chaffee Zoo has over 190 species as part of its interactive exhibits, including the new Kingdoms of Asia exhibit. Inside Kingdoms of Asia, you’ll learn about the sloth bear, Malayan tigers, and more. Get a look at the behind-the-scenes tours where you pick which animal you want to learn about in a closer setting. Tall Tails allows you to meet the giraffes in an exclusive viewing yard and hand them tasty lettuce. Join in on the fun at the Roar Tour where you visit the lion building to learn about their care and get a private training session with plenty of photo opportunities. If you get hungry along the way, the zoo has several food stands that also serve beer and wine.
Wineries & Breweries
Try out the many wineries and breweries in Fresno County for a good time. Start at the Brewery District in Downtown Fresno for live music and food trucks. The food truck scene downtown is the best in California. Every weekend Tioga-Sequoia Beer Garden has different food trucks that serve tacos, pizza and more. Wine lovers can make their way to Ziveli Winery in Fresno or Kings River Winery in Sanger which is 20 minutes from Fresno. At Ziveli Winery you can get an oven-baked pizza to pair with a tasty Cabernet Sauvignon. At Kings River Winery try their 2018 Apache Red Wine. In Clovis, taste well-crafted brews at Crow and Wolf Brewing and Summer Fox Brewing. At Summer Fox Brewing, guests are welcome to bring their food to enjoy.
Hiking
Outdoorsy couples can see beautiful sights together all while feeling like you’re on top of the world! Fresno County is home to amazing views like the Pincushion Peak Trail. It is a 2.8-mile loop trail located near Friant, California, that features Millerton Lake. The hike is doable for beginners but expect some incline. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and birding. You’ll get the best view from March until October.
Woodward Park
Location: 7775 N Friant Rd, Fresno, CA 93720
Love birds get ready for a peaceful time at Woodward Park in Fresno. Woodward Park is the biggest park in Fresno County spanning 300 acres. The park includes five miles of trails, an authentic Japanese Garden, and a dog park. Sit beneath a tree to watch the sunset and bring your blanket to treat the date as a picnic. Just minutes away you’ll find River Park Shopping Center where you’ll find restaurants, a movie theater, and stores.
Fresno Art Museum
Location: 2233 N First St, Fresno, CA 93703
About: The Fresno Art Museum showcases historical and local art. This season of love, there are four new art exhibits from Hallowell Gallery, Fig Garden and Duncan Galleries, Lobby, and Concourse Galleries, and Fresno Art Museum Curator Sarah Vargas. Scoops, Soups & More
Location: 433 Pollasky Ave, Clovis, CA 93612
About: Scoops, Soups & More in Clovis gives you a glimpse into the 1950s. This retro-style ice cream shop has signed autographs and photos of Elvis Presley on the wall. Choose your favorite flavor of ice cream made by Fresno State. We recommend trying their coconut, almond chip ice cream flavor. Once you’re done, you can stroll through Old Town Clovis and learn about the city’s western roots at the Clovis-Big Dry Creek Museum.
National Parks
Can’t decide between these great spots? Make a weekend out of it and try them all! Mark all three National Parks off of your bucket list in one trip. Visit Yosemite, Kings Canyon, and Sequoia National Park as they are only a 90-minute drive from Clovis and Fresno.
