Description

Millerton Lake State Recreation Area is a California State Park located in the San Joaquin Valley of California. Millerton Lake is a reservoir on the San Joaquin River, occurring between Fresno and Madera counties, in the town of Friant. The park is ten minutes from Fresno. Millerton Lake is a federal water storage facility, which was formed by the construction of the Friant Dam in 1944, and given to the National Park Service to manage. In the mid-1950’s, the California Division of Beaches and Parks assumed management of the recreation at Millerton Lake.
