If you're hanging around Fresno County this winter, don’t skip a trip to our nearby national parks. Yosemite, Sequoia, and Kings Canyon are all an easy drive and look completely different this time of year. Just make sure to check the weather and road conditions before you head out (yes, chains might be required), and layer up, it gets cold fast!
Take a Self-Guided Tour of the Fresno County Blossom Trail
If you're visiting in late February through March, don’t miss the Fresno County Blossom Trail. It’s a self-guided driving route through miles of blooming orchards with peach, plum, almond, citrus, you name it. It’s basically the Central Valley’s version of cherry blossom season. You can enjoy the views safely from designated roadside pullouts, parking areas, or sidewalks along the way but remember, these are working farms. As tempting as it is to step into the orchards for that perfect photo, please don’t. Farmers are out there doing the work that keeps our country fed. Need a snack break? Find Snow in the Sierra at China Peak and Shaver Lake
Craving winter snow without the long drive? Fresno County makes it easy. Just 90 minutes from Fresno, China Peak Mountain Resort has slopes for all skill levels, from seasoned snowboarders to first-timers. After a day on the mountain, warm up with a coffee at Monkey Dog Coffee or freshly baked Mexican sweet bread from Panaderia Cafe Oaxaca in Clovis.
Prefer a more relaxed snow day? Shaver Lake is ideal for sledding, snowball fights, or simply soaking in those peaceful mountain vibes.
