Fresno County Fruit Trail - Begins Mid-May

Fresno State 2nd Annual Mariachi Festival - May 6

Location: Save Mart Center, 2650 E Shaw Avenue, Fresno, CA 93710

About the event: Fresno State is proud to announce the 2nd Annual Mariachi Festival will take place on May 6th at the Save Mart Center.  This years festival features: Mariachi Los Camperos De Jesús “Chuy” Guzmán, Mariachi Los Reyes, Ana Barbara, and Majo Aguilar. Get tickets here.

Fresno Urban Run - May 6

Location: Downtown Fresno, CA

Time: 8 am

About the event: Starting inside of Chukchansi Park, you will be put to the challenge of climbing every step from the bottom to the top of the stadium, followed by a run up and down a 6-story circular garage and then a half-mile run down Fulton Street to the Tuolumne Overpass. Take the final climb up 220 stairs of the 10-story Grand Tower. The Urban run is approximately 3 miles. Register for the run here.

New Worlds presented by the Fresno Philharmonic - May 7

About the event: What is “American” classical music? Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9, From the New World, answered that question by drawing inspiration from Indigenous and African American music. Jerod Impichchaachaaha’ Tate’s Clans expresses his Chickasaw identity through the medium of modern classical music. Placing these two works in dialogue hopefully deepens this fundamental artistic question. Julian Rhee, winner of the 2020 Elmar Oliveira International Violin Competition, brings Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto to life with his signature energy. Purchase tickets here.
