Description

Welcome to the Land of Giants! After a year of unprecedented changes due to the pandemic, impacts from the KNP Complex Wildfire are once again changing the way that people visit Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. New challenges include a large number of hazard trees and erosion along roadways, complicated by rugged terrain and the oncoming winter. But many of our closed areas are now open or will open soon. In Sequoia National Park, you’ll travel through many areas that burned. Much-needed precipitation is already helping chaparral and oak woodland landscapes to recover, and new growth of vegetation is turning hillsides green. In the Giant Forest and Lodgepole, our trail crews have repaired trails that were impacted by the fire. In Kings Canyon National Park, Grant Grove and Cedar Grove escaped the fire, though there are burned landscapes just south of Grant Grove. Wherever you decide to visit, you'll experience one of the finest and wildest areas of the Sierra Nevada mountain range.
