Museum of the Sierra

Description

Our amazing museum encompasses 20 acres of exploration. We have the only working hydro-powerhouse replica in the world, housed in a museum. We are a museum without walls that offers exploration of a time past with a flume exhibit, including a flume tender's cabin, a caboose from the SJ&E railroad, an operational Steam Donkey, and many other exhibits that tell the tale of how our valley grew with the onset of the lumber industry. A few times over the course of our open season, April- Nov, we have Power Up Days with live demonstrations of our Power House and our Steam Donkey — truly sights to see. We have a self-guided nature trail, a botanical garden, a First Peoples Nobi replica, grinding stones, and other phenomenal ways to connect today with yesterday and grow knowledge.
