What to know about the Great Kearney BBQ Smoke Out

Taste barbecue grilled up by the best of the best at the Great Kearney BBQ Smoke Out and learn about the beginnings of Fresno County's agricultural industry. This is an outdoor event. Be sure to come prepared with plenty of sunscreen, bug spray, hand sanitizer and blankets to sit on.  

BEST OF THE BEST BBQ

More than 40 of the best of the best BBQ teams will have plenty of barbecue for you to try during the inaugural food festival sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society and hosted by the Fresno County Historical Society. Judges will score teams for a chance to win $8,000. Guests will also get to cast their vote for the People's Choice Award. It's the first BBQ showdown to be held in the county at this scale.

In another tent, a side-dish competition will be underway with locals sharing their best recipes for the chance at a $500 award. Fresno Street Eats will also have several food trucks out in the park, and a beer and wine garden will feature craft beer and wines from local makers.

FUN FOR ALL

Sit in Kearney Park to enjoy your food and live performances from The Real Phonies, Celtic AlchemyLarry Flores Band, Brandon Freeman, The Gilly Girls, The Parris Brothers featuring Rudy Parris from "The Voice" and Joe "Boy" Walton & the Starr Choice Band. There will also be a fun zone with games for all ages.  

The Fresno County Historical Society will also have their latest exhibit: Fields of Fresno - A Century in the Soil, which showcases through photos the county's agricultural roots and its role in bringing people together including for celebrations such as picnics and barbecues. 

The evening will finish with a spectacular drone show in the sky.
