A new gymnastics competition is coming to California's Sports Central. The Mid-State Classic Gymnastics Competition, hosted by Fresno Gymnastic Center, will be held on January 25 and January 26, 2025. The first annual event will bring gymnasts ages 5 and up to compete in four programs: vault, bars, beam and floor.

Athletes and their families aren't the only ones invited to view the competition. Remember how fun it was to watch the Olympics this summer? Fresno Gymnastics is also inviting the local community to come out and support these athletes.

So, who is Fresno Gymnastics and what can we expect from the Mid-State Classic Gymnastics Competition? We sat down with the owner Annie Bradshaw to discuss the event, Fresno Gymnastics and more.

Tell us about your organization.

"We opened Fresno Gymnastics Center last year in August of 2023 offering a variety of classes such as gymnastics, tumbling, cheer and parkour. We start as young as 18 months in our Tots program and continue through high school age in our recreational program.  We also have adult classes, so we cover all ages."

Tell us about the event you're hosting.

"We are excited to be hosting an event called the Mid-State Classic Gymnastics Meet. We will have teams from all over the state coming to the Fresno Convention Center for the meet. We'll have gymnasts as young as five years old all the way up through high schoolers."

Why do you think it's important for local sports organization to hold these types of events?

"I think it's really important to give Fresno a great name. We love it here. We think Fresno is a great community full of great people. We want to help make Fresno a hot spot for sports.  Not only for gymnastics but for other sports in the area as well.”

What is your main goal for the event?

"We want to run a top tier event.  Bringing this type of meet to the valley will give our local athletes the opportunity to compete and show off their skills as well as giving the community the chance to attend and discover the sport of gymnastics in real life and not just on the TV.  We're excited to have things run smoothly, on-time and bring a professional and fun environment to the gymnastics community in Fresno."

What does the future of your organization hold?

"This is the first gymnastics meet that we're hosting, and we hope to host many more in the future. We also hope to put Fresno on the map and host some USA Gymnastics competitions here. We have plans, this is just the beginning."

Fresno and Clovis are California's Sports Central. Why do you think this is a top sports destination?

"I think that Fresno is centralized to California, and it makes it so people from up north and down south can get to an event with ease. It's a great place to host high-caliber competitions."
