Experience a weekend with cultural richness, traditional dances, and tasty food at the Fresno Hmong New Year! This vibrant celebration is the largest Hmong-American community event in the United States. Here's everything you need to know before attending:
When & Where is the Fresno Hmong New Year Happening?
The celebration is held at the Fresno Fairgrounds located at 1121 S. Chance Avenue Fresno, CA 93702 from December 28 through December 31. Gates open on each day at 8 am, with the opening ceremony kicking off at 11 am on December 28. It'll take place at the Pavilion at the site of the General Vang Pao statue. A parade will follow right after at 11:30 am. You'll be able to enjoy various vendors selling traditional items, delicious foods, and a badminton competition held daily. The Hmong 1975 and College Samthong Reunion will be held on the fourth and final day of the celebration. You can find the full agenda here.
Admission & Parking
General admission for the event is $12. Seniors and military service members can get in for $8. Children 5 and younger get in for free. Parking will cost $15 per vehicle.
Entertainment
Get ready for live entertainment every day of the Hmong New Year including dances, live music, a dance competition, and a pageant. The lineup for live music includes Haum Xeeb Band, Faidang Lor, X-Pired, Ajan Lis Pao, Dr. T, and more. The pageant and dance competition will take place inside the Industry Commerce Building on December 29 and December 30 from 10 am to 4 pm. There will also be a badminton competition held daily in the Agricultural Building from 1 pm to 4 pm on the first day of the festival and from 11 am to 4 pm the following three days.
Food & Drinks
Get traditional food inside the Industrial Education Building every day of the festival. Here you can also listen to live music while you’re enjoying your food.
