The summer season is in full swing in Fresno County, and August brings more fun events to enjoy. From family-friendly activities to entertainers rolling into the area; we've created a list of some of the events happening this month that you don't want to miss! EVENTS

SAR Wild Run — August 13 

Location: Shaver Lake, CA 93664

Time: 7:30 am

About the event: Join in on all the fun at the Search and Rescue Wild Run fundraiser event and take in all the breathtaking scenery as you show your support!

 

Drip on Drip Sneaker Expo — August 12 

Location: River Park Shopping Center, 71 E. Via La Plata, Fresno, CA

Time: 11 a.m.- 5 p.m.

About the event: Calling all sneakerheads interested in buying, selling, or trading sneakers. This big event is the first of its kind in the River Park area. There will be giveaways, food trucks, DJs and music, special guests, collectibles, vintage clothing vendors, a basketball hoop, art and so much more.

toro nagashi

Toro Nagashi — August 12

Location: Shinzen Japanese Friendship Garden, 114 W Audubon Drive, Fresno, CA 93720

Time: 4 pm to 8:00 pm

About the event: Celebrate the last night of the festival of Obon with the Shinzen Friendship Garden's 38th annual Toro Nagashi candle-lit lantern celebration. Lantern decorating with occur from 4 pm to  6 pm and the lantern celebration begins at 6:45 pm.

Field of Fresno Ag Tour — August 26                                                   

Location: Kearney Mansion Museum, 7160 W Kearney Boulevard, Fresno, CA 93706                                                                                                                                             

About the event: The Field of Fresno Ag Tour is presented by the Fresno Historical Society. You and a group will take a tour of Kearney Mansion and learn about Fresno County's deep agri-business roots. You'll also visit local crops followed by lunch and wine tasting at Woolf Farms. Tickets are on sale now. 

CaliCreaming Fresno Car Show — August 26 

Location: Fresno Fairgrounds, 1121 S Chance Avenue, Fresno, CA 92702

Time: 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. 

About the event: This is one of the biggest car show events that happens at the Fresno Fairgrounds. There will be automotive vendors and 6 trophies to give away!

FAMILY-FRIENDLY ACTIVITIES

 

Wild Child Bubble Show — August 1

Location: Teague Community Resource Center, 4718 N. Polk Ave, Fresno, CA

Time: 2:30 p.m. 

About the event: The Bubble Man always creates a fun, free show - put on by the Summer Library Series for families.

Fresno County Historical Museum — August 19 

Location: Fresno Fairgrounds, 1121 S Chance Avenue, Fresno, CA 92702

Time: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. 

About the event: The Fresno County Historical Museum will be open every 3rd Saturday. Learn about the rich culture and history of Fresno County admission is Free!


Young Explorers Enrichment Program — August 29

Location: San Joaquin River Parkway and Conservation Trust, Inc., 11605 Old Friant Road, Fresno, CA 93730

Time: 9 am to 12 pm

About the event: Your child can take part in this hands-on nature-based experience hosted by the San Joaquin River Parkway Conservation Trust. They'll take nature walks, have free play in one of several themed play areas, and learn about item collection and sorting. The program begins August 30 and runs through December 15.

Fuerza Regida: Otra Peda Tour — August 5

Location: Save Mart Center, 2650 E Shaw Avenue, Fresno, CA 93710

Time: 8 p.m.

About the show: Listen to Regional Mexican Music by a Californian group nominated for multiple Billboard Music Awards. 

Big Time Rush — August 8

Location: Save Mart Center, 2650 E Shaw Avenue, Fresno, CA 93710

Time: 7 p.m.- 10:30 p.m.

About the show: Nickelodeon pop sensation Big Time Rush makes their comeback at the Save Mart Center to perform all of their songs from 2009!

Air Supply: The Lost in Love Experience — August 18 

Location: Warnors Center for the Performing Arts, 1400 Fulton Street, Fresno, CA

Time: 8 p.m. 

About the show: Listen to good music performed by Air Supply. 

Friday in the Pines: Gilly Girls — August 18 

Location: Museum of The Sierra-Shaver Lake,  42642 Tollhouse Rd, Shaver Lake, CA 93664

Time: 6 p.m.- 8 p.m. 

About the show: Relax at the amphitheater in Shaver Lake and enjoy a free performance by the Gilly Girls! 

Catch You on the Rebound The Last Tour Brenton Wood, Barbara Mason & more — August 19 

Location: Selland Arena, 700 M St, Fresno, CA

Time: 7 p.m. 

About the show: Enjoy some soul music at the Selland Arena and experience the last tour of Brenton Wood and so many other artists.

 Michefest—August 19

Location: Granite Park, 4000 N Cedar Ave, Fresno, CA 93726

Time: 12:00 p.m. - 11:30 p.m.

About the show: Enjoy the Mexican culture at this traveling festival. There will be music, food, and so much more! Top musical artists like Los Tucanes de Tijuana will be performing.
