Cornhole teams from across the United States will return to Fresno for the second annual American Cornhole Organization (ACO) Fresno Major at the Fresno Fairgrounds from December 6-7, 2024.
Fresno cornhole player, Juan Alvarez, has been playing since 2020, and joined ACO in 2021. He loved the family-friendly environment the sport offers.
"It brings a lot of different people together from a lot of different places," said Juan Alvarez. "It's great for everyone, family and all. I think with Fresno, there's so much we can do. We can grow, especially with cornhole."
As a huge sports fan, cornhole was a way for him to continue playing during the pandemic. Alvarez had the lowest rank in the league as a first-year player in the league at 161. His goal: to rank in the top 100 players in the league.
During the two-day tournament, teams from California, Michigan, and Mississippi will compete for rankings, division purses and payouts, bonuses and a prize jersey.
"As we continue to cement the ACO nationwide footprint, we celebrate relationships with cities like Fresno who have welcomed us with open arms," says Frank Geers, the founder and president of ACO. "Our west coast schedule continue to draw ACO pros, players, family and friends to Fresno and the region from all over the country."
The fun starts Friday, December 6 at 9 am, and Saturday, December 7 at 8 am.
The public is welcome to attend to cheer on the competitors or join in on the fun in the Bagmaster Quads competition. Registration for the tournament closes on December 5. It is $40 for single participants, $80 for doubles, $30 for coeds and seniors, and juniors play for free.
