For more than a century, St. George Greek Orthodox Church has been part of the Fresno County community. Established in the early 1920s, the church became a home for Greek immigrants who brought the traditions, history and culture of their homeland with them. Today, those traditions continue through generations with the annual Fresno Greek Festival.
The festival is a chance to experience a little taste of Greece right here in Fresno County, with traditional food, music, dancing and plenty of opportunities to celebrate the culture that has become a cherished part of the community.
Come hungry because there will be plenty to try! From a fresh Greek salad piled high with tomatoes and cucumbers to juicy, tender lamb chops, also known as paidakia, you’ll find plenty of traditional favorites to enjoy. And, of course, we can’t forget dessert! The crispy, flaky layers of baklava are sure to be a favorite, but you can also try saragli, a rolled-up take on the classic baklava, or galaktoboureko, a creamy custard-filled pastry that is just as delicious as it sounds.
Bring your appetite and get ready to taste a little piece of Greek tradition, one delicious bite at a time!
