Description

— SINCE 1978— The Koroyan family started in Fresno in 1978 originally opening Sassoon’s Restaurant on Cedar and Shields providing guests with traditional Armenian cuisine making everything from scratch. They had live belly dancing entertainment with traditional Armenian food. Sassoon’s was a longtime favorite of William Saroyan the famous Armenian novelist, playwright, and short story writer. Then in 1989 they expanded to a larger place renaming it to George’s Shish Kebab with a formal dining room, coffee shop, 3 banquet rooms, and a bar with live music. In 1995 they moved to North Fresno to their existing location still serving amazing food with the same family recipes and homemade dishes that are prepared daily. Simon Pulido, Executive Chef and Akram Elbanna, General Manager have been with George’s for over 30 years making culinary magic every day. In fact, most of their employees like Daniel, Alberto and Pamela have all been with Georges for over 15 years and take great pride in welcoming their customers as they would welcome guests into their home. Voted “Best Armenian Restaurant” by Fresno Magazine in 2006 is no surprise. And continuing to win awards like “Best of the Valley” multiple years. Margo Koroyan says it’s a place to feel at home, feel welcomed, enjoy great homemade dishes, and spend quality time with family and friends where customer satisfaction is guaranteed.
